Soap and Glory’s super gloss-giving radiance and repair mask treatment.

I’m a huuuuge Soap and Glory fan. The packaging is cute and the price range is very accessible, even more so when Boots give you 1/3 off or 3 for the price of 2

I happened to be in Boots a few weeks ago and bought this along with several other products in a special deal. I love S&G’s exfoliators so I decided to give this product a go.

Thousands of brands bring out hair treatments every year, to combat dryness or frizzyness or just to give your hair a boost and considering the market is so flooded, when it comes to buying hair products, it’s near impossible to know which ones to choose.

To save you the hassle of testing out this one yourself ; It’s rubbish.

The packaging is awesome as per usual S&G but the product itself ,bar having a pleasant smell, has no pros at all.

It feels gloopy and sticky to touch, as it’s in gel formula. It was hard to apply as the gel was so concentrated and washing it out proved to be even more difficult. I left it in for a few minutes to get the promised “more intensive weekly treatment” and spent a good ten minutes washing it out.

After rinsing my hair, I was disappointed that my hair didn’t feel any smoother or softer. It actually felt drier than usual.

I decided to let my hair dry naturally and see how it looked then. The end result wasn’t any better – my hair felt coarse and heavy. It looked dull and lifeless and it was really hard to manage.

The product promises smooth and shiny hair – if anything, it removed the usual smoothness and shine my hair has. It also claims to coat and control split ends, but it just made my hair feel heavy and as though it was still coated with the product, despite my rinsing it out well.

I did try using the product again, using less to see if it made a difference but the same thing happened – my hair felt sticky even when dry despite me washing the product out, the colour of my hair looked dull, it was quite tangled and course.

Definitely a let down and I wouldn’t repurchase. Shame, because S&G have some really good products and this could potentially put people off the rest of the range.

Of all their stuff, this is the only product I haven’t been happy with… I think it’s just a once-off dud. Save your money for the highly recommended Arch of Triumph or the body exfoliators!

Benefit have just launched a new product, Girl Meets Pearl, in Ireland. I saw it on the website the other day and reeeeally wanted to try it.

So, I went in to Cleary’s on Saturday morning, tested it and bought it about twenty seconds later. I have a feeling it’s going to become their new cult product, much like Highbeam or Benetint.

If you like either or both of those products, you’ll most likely love this!

It’s quite similar in consistency to Highbeam, but instead of being just for cheekbones or specific areas you want to highlight, it’s for all over the face. It’s quite light in texture and once dabbed on with a sponge, it gives a lovely, dewy finish to skin. Colourwise, it’s an illuminous light gold shade.

You can wear it to boost foundation-less skin, or use it over your make-up as a skin finish. I prefer the latter, as I like a more full coverage.

The one con about this product when wearing it over make-up is that when applying with a sponge, if you rub rather than dab, make-up can come off in some areas, meaning you have to apply more concealer to then area, then powder, then the Girl Meets Pearl. Moral of that story is to dab the product on gently and take your time with application.

Pros? Skin looks fresh, it looks healthy, it has a nice glow. The product is lightly raspberry scented and is quite cooling and refreshing on the skin. Using the product is very simple, you just twist it at the bottom and the product comes out at the top – the perfect amount for one application comes out, which is really handy as there’s none wasted.

The product is great for boosting your complexion which I think is ideal for a night out when you want to make a special effort, however, this could be used on a daily basis as well, as it’s not *too* shimmery or glittery on the skin. I’d just suggest perhaps using the product slightly more sparingly during the day, as too much might look OTT in daylight.

Who would the product suit? Pretty much anyone. However, if you have slightly oilier skin, I’d recommend using a primer to set the skin followed by some powder on areas that become greasy quickly before using the product, just to insure skin is dewy, rather than overly oily looking.

For dry skin, make sure you moisturise well before applying the product to make sure skin doesn’t flake.

Although it’s only new, I reckon it’ll only be a matter of months, or even weeks, before this product is as reputable as Highbeam.

Happy shopping!
